Abstract :
Kencur (Zingiberaceae) is a plant that is widely known by the public. The need
for kencur plants in the community is quite high, because besides kencur can be
used as a kitchen spice (flavoring) is also needed to meet the traditional medicine
industries and ingredients in making cosmetics. Planting kencur plants has been
done by the local community for a long time.
The objectives of this study are (1) To find out what factors influence the
production of kencur farming in Lenteng Barat Village, Lenteng District,
Sumenep Regency, (2) To find out what factors are influential in the production of
kencur farming in Lenteng Barat Village, Lenteng District, Sumenep Regency .
Determination of the location in the study was carried out intentionally
(purposive) in the West Lenteng Village with the consideration that the West
Lenteng Village is one of the villages in the Lenteng District which in general the
people there cultivate kencur plants. Sampling in this study uses the theory of
Roscoe (1975) with guidance on point 3 (three), 50 respondents. The analytical
method used is the Cobb Douglas function analysis.
The results of the analysis show that the kencur farming in Lenteng Barat Village,
Lenteng District, Sumenep Regency is efficient or feasible. Factors affecting the
production of kencur farming in Lenteng Barat Village, Lenteng Subdistrict,
Sumenep Regency are seeds and fertilizer, while those that have no effect are
labor. The most dominant factor in the production of kencur farming in West
Lenteng Village, Lenteng District, Sumenep Regency is land area.
