Abstract :
Dense human activities accompanied by movement and displacement of
places are required to travel to places that are quite far away, for that we need a
good and comfortable transportation. Currently, the conditions that occur around
Anom Baru Market, Sumenep Regency, precisely in the southern area of Anom
Market in Sumenep City, are experiencing traffic congestion every day. At the north
entrance of Anom Baru Market, Sumenep City on Jl. Raya Adirasa, the movement
of vehicles is always hampered due to being filled with public transportation
vehicles, namely Mini Buses or Microbuses and rickshaws. Meanwhile, regular
traffic circulation in front of the main entrance to the west of Pasar Anom Baru,
Sumenep City on Jl. Trunojoyo is also hampered due to the same thing, where the
area is close to the center of office and educational activities which also feel the
impact of the disorderly public transportation, plus there is no traffic light in that
location.
This study aims to describe so that the services carried out by urban-rural
public transportation are better. The research method used in this research is
qualitative research by conducting surveys, distributing questionnaires, and
collecting data from relevant agencies to obtain primary and secondary data which
are then analyzed and processed to get the best results from this research.
From the research conducted, the results show that the performance of
public transportation services can be said to be not in accordance with applicable
regulations and the lack of firmness from the relevant agencies in the management
of existing public transportation, unfavorable road conditions, namely damage to
the shoulder of the road and roads that can trigger the occurrence of accidents.
traffic accidents, as well as the lack of facilities and infrastructure that have been
planned in the Regency Spatial Plan (RTRWK) which supports the creation of a
good traffic rate and safety for road users around Anom Baru Market, Sumenep
City. The problems that arise are only elementary which can still be overcome
through sustainable approaches or solutions carried out by the Sumenep Regency
Transportation Office and several related agencies.
