Abstract :
Dyspepsia syndrome is a collection of symptoms in the upper digestive tract that are activated by the activation of the hypothalamic-pituitary axis triggered by stress. One of the problems facing the world today is the Covid-19 pandemic which can be a new stressor, especially for students with many changes in the learning process. The purpose of the study was to examine the relationship between stress during the Covid-19 pandemic and the incidence of dyspepsia syndrome. The research method is observational analytic using a cross-sectional design. The research subjects were obtained by using the total sampling method from 238 total population. The results showed that the highest stress levels were mild-moderate stress (85.3%), severe-very severe stress (14.7%), and those with dyspepsia syndrome were 44 people out of a total of 68 samples (64.7%). The significance value of stress and dyspepsia is 1. From the results of the interaction test, significant results were obtained on the characteristics of the child. It was obtained that the p value was 0.05 and the odds ratio was 1, which indicates that the position of the first child is a risk for stress to dyspepsia. So that the variable of child status can be a confounding factor in the results of this study. The conclusion is that there is no significant relationship between stress during the Covid-19 pandemic and the incidence of dyspepsia syndrome in the first batch of medical students at the Faculty of Medicine, Andalas University.
