Abstract :
Spodoptera frugiperda J.E. Smith is an invasive pest that caused a substantial yield loss in corn in Indonesia. The study aimed to determine the biology, survival curves, and demographic statistics of S. frugiperda. The experimental research was conducted by assessing the number of individuals, developmental period, sex ratio, and population growth parameters of S. frugiperda. In the laboratory studies, the eggs were laid by the female and hatched in 3 days. Emerging larvae pass through 6 instars. Average development duration of larvae, starting from instar I, II, III, IV, V, and VI was 2.33; 2.85; 2.79; 2.63; 3.25; and 4.86 days. The female and male pupa stage lasted an average of 7.39 ± 0.82 days and 9.16 ± 0.74 days. Adult longevity of S. frugiperda is 10.57 ± 4.13 days for females and 6, 53 ± 4.11 days for males. The period of preoviposition and oviposition of S. frugiperda was 6.33 3.14 and 2.67 1.18 days. One generation was completed on average 37.83 ± 2.34 days. In addition, the sex ratio of adults was 1.5:1 in female-biased. The net reproductive rates (Ro) of S. frugiperda 50.43 females/female/generation, the gross reproductive rates (GRR) of S. frugiperda 269 individuals per generation, the intrinsic rate of increase (rm) S. frugiperda 0.2 day-1 with mean generation time (T) 37.34 days and doubling time (DT) requiring 2.31 days.
