Abstract :
In the electric power distribution system from power plants to consumers is usually often there is fault. In this case the fault that will be discussed is the Medium Voltage Air Circuits (SUTM) is a short circuit that are temporary or permanent. Due in Kediri, East Java, frequent disturbances precisely on Joyoboyo feeder supplied from the substation Banaran, therefore PT. PLN (Persero) Area Kediri using a surge protector rather on SUTM by using Recloser used to treat the fault and minimize the fault area. Recloser functions to secure and minimize fault to the end. Recloser operation is almost the same as the circuit breaker is fitted with equipment that can shut down automatically after a behind the opening and closing the back. When the temporary fault, Recloser open and close back so did not experience blackouts until at the end. When the permanent fault then Recloser will open and lock (lock out). The benefits to use Recloser, in the event of temporary fault, avoid the needs to explore the location of fault area where is hard to find.
