Abstract :
Overvoltage due to lightning surges can damage equipment at substations such as power
transformers, this can be avoided by installing lightning arresters at substations. In order
to protect the transformer optimally, it is necessary to check the condition of the lightning
arrester, one of which is the measurement of leakage current. Leakage current
measurement can be done using the LCM (Leakage Current Measurement) tool. In this
thesis the author will discuss the condition of the lightning arrester at the Duri Kosambi
Bay Transformer Substation by considering the results of LCM measurements and
calculating the percentage of leakage current and the distance from the lightning arrester
to the transformer. The measurement of the lightning arrester leakage current obtained,
all the lightning arresters installed on the Bay Transformer GI Duri Kosambi still meet
the factory standards, which are below 150 A. So the recommendation for lightning
arresters is to take annual LCM measurements. In this study, the results of the calculation
of the maximum distance variation of the Bay Transformer GI Duri Kosambi arrester,
which is included in the safe distance to be able to protect the transformer from
overvoltage disturbances due to lightning surges, is at a distance of 7.5 m with a terminal
voltage value of 550 kV.
