Abstract :
Solar cables are very influential on the safety of the installation of Solar Power Plants
(PLTS). Damage to components and even fire can occur in PLTS installations, this is
because the conductor resistance does not comply the IEC 60228 standard and the
insulation strength against the hot set test does not comply the EN 60811-507 standard.
In addition, the tensile strength of the solar cable that does not comply the EN 60811-501
standard can affect the time of cable deployment which causes the insulation to break and
makes the cable life shorter. From the test results, the VOKSEL type cable has a
conductor resistance value of 4.92?/km, with an average tensile strength of 14.13 N/mm2
and an average elongation of the hot set test of 16.63%. The HENGTONG type cable has
a conductor resistance value of 3.20?/km, an average tensile strength of 14.84 N/mm2
and an average elongation of the hot set test of 47.6%. Meanwhile, APAR-UNICAB cable
has a conductor resistance value of 5.58 ? /km and an average tensile strength of 12.64
N/mm2. VOKSEL & HENTONG type cables have met the standards of the three tests,
namely IEC 60228 standard for conductor resistance, EN 60811-501 standard for tensile
strength test, and EN 60811-507 standard for hot set test. Meanwhile, the APAR-UNICAB
type cable has not met the IEC 60228 standard for the conductor resistance test and the
EN 60811-507 standard for the hot set test.
