Abstract :
The Aceh power subsystem is highly vulnerable to voltage instability problems. This
is due to radial network topology and lack of large generators that can compensate for
changes in reacive power. Analysis such as simulation of power flow and voltage stability
is needed to determine how significant for voltage problems can be to cause more
considerable disturbances such as Voltage Collapse. The static voltage stability analysis
method using Voltage Busbar Sensitivity approach is carried out with Digsilent software
to calculate the busbar voltage sensitivity ratio (dV/dQ) for each scenario of the operating
conditions the Aceh power subsystem, from normal to worst conditions and mitigation
planning. Based on the simulation results, in the absence operations of Naganraya steam
powerplant units, the shunt capacitor operating is only able to improve the operational
voltage for each substation in the Aceh power subsystem at the range of 145 -153 kV, but
it does not significantly reduce the value of the busbar voltage sensitivity ratio. The
combined operating conditions of the 150 kV Aceh subsystem backbone looping and the
North Sumatra ? Aceh 275 kV interconnection can reduce the value of busbar voltage
sensitivity ratio (dV/dQ) at each substation in the Aceh power subsystem, even the highest
is only around 0.001 p.u/MVAR. Then busbar voltage sensitivity ratio data is expected to
help power system operators to avoid the potential for Voltage Collapse in operating the
power system.
