Abstract :
In this study the present researcher analyzed the the teachers strategy in
teaching speaking English. The research questions were formulated as: (1) What
kind of strategies that the teacher applied in teaching speaking skill at Darul
Muttaqien Islamic Boarding School NW Perian?; (2) How is the strategy applied
in the classroom?; (3) How are the students’ responses to the teachers’ strategies
in teaching speaking at Islamic Boarding chool Darul Muttaqien NW Perian?. To
achieve the purposes of the research and answer the research questions, the
present researcher conducted an interview to the English teacher and took the
documentation. The collected data were submitted to descriptive analysis. The
finding of the study stated that (1) the teacher applied the learning thinking
strategy. (2) During the teaching and learning process the teacher was assisted by
the existence of leasson plan, ranging from pre-activity, whilst-activity, post-
activity. (3) the result of this study suggest that students really enthusisastic, but
the problem that students found such as spell what they want to say.
