Abstract :
The aviation industry is very fast where in this industry requires components
to build an airplane from various kinds of metal and non-metal materials. This study
focuses on bending testing to determine the bending strength between Carbon fiber
and Aramid fiber. The manufacture of Carbon fiber and Aramid Woven Roving fiber
composites [0 °, 90°] uses the hand lay up method, referring to the ASTM (American
Society for Testing Material) D790-02 standard. And use Epoxy resin. Results of the
bending test for carbon fiber and aramid fiber were obtained at 60% volume
fraction, the bending strength value was higher than the 70% volume fraction for
both fiber types, namely 17.558 MPa for carbon fiber and 17.338 MPa for Aramid
fiber. macro photo testing of carbon fiber and aramid fiber observed that aramid
fiber is more ductile than carbon fiber.
