Abstract :
Ylang flower essential oil (Cananga odorata (Lmk).f.Thoms) has
antibacterial activity which is used for the treatment of acne which is formulated
into transdermal patch preparations because it can deliver drugs at a controlled
speed to pass through the skin to produce a systemic effect. The preparation of
this Transdermal Patch uses the solvent-casting method.
This study aims to determine from the three formulas F1 (2.5ml), F2 (3ml)
and F3 (4ml) ylang flower essential oil (Cananga odorata (Lmk).f.Thoms) which
is effective in inhibiting Staphylococcus aureus bacteria which is one of the
bacteria causing pimple. Ylang flower essential oil was obtained by steam
distillation method and obtained 10 ml of oil and the yield was 0.2% v/w.
The results showed that the formula that could inhibit the growth of
Staphylococcus aureus bacteria was formula 3 with an inhibition zone diameter of
30.2 mm, a bacterial inhibition zone using a positive control of tetracycline and a
negative control of aquades. The best formula for transdermal patch preparation of
ylang flower essential oil as an anti-acne was shown in formula 3 with a
concentration of 4 ml.
