Abstract :
This type of research is descriptive research, the subjects in this study
were teachers (researchers) and students of class VIIIF even semester of Kupang
Middle School 11 2018/2019 academic year totaling 30 people. The technique
used in determining the subject of this study was purposive sampling technique
and data collection techniques in this study were observation, tests, and
questionnaires. While the instruments in this study were the Learning
Management Observation Sheet (Learning Planning Assessment Sheet, Learning
Implementation Observation Sheet, and Learning Evaluation Assessment Sheet),
Learning Outcomes Test, and Student Response Sheet. The technique of
analyzing the results of the study is quantitative descriptive analysis including the
calculation of the average score, percentage and proportion
The descriptive analysis results obtained that the teacher's ability to
manage learning by applying the contextual approach to the subject matter of
optical instruments in class VIIIF Kupang 11th Middle School which includes
learning planning, learning implementation, and learning evaluation is included in
the good category. Indicators of cognitive, affective, and psychomotor learning
outcomes are all complete. The completeness of student learning outcomes for
cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects is all complete. The response of
students to learning activities by applying a contextual approach consisting of five
aspects is all categorized very well. Based on the results of descriptive analysis of
research data and discussion of the results of the study, it was found that learning
by applying the contextual approach to the subject matter of optical devices in
class VIIIF even semester of Kupang 11th Middle School academic year
2018/2019 totaling 30 people in general achieved optimal results
