Abstract :
The purpose of this research was to find out students? vocabulary mastery
by using anagram game and to find out whether there was a significant effect of
using anagram game toward of students vocabulary at the seventh grade of MTSN
1 Rokan Hulu.
This research applied pre-experimental. The population of this research
was the seventh grade students of MTSN 1 Rokan Hulu. The number of
population was 105 students. The sample is class VII B consisted of 26 students.
The sampling technique in this research was purposive sampling. The instrument
of the research was essay test. The researcher gave pre-test and post-test to the
students.
Based on the data gained, it was found that the mean score of the pre-test
was 45.38 while the mean score of the post-test is 73.65. It means that there was
significant difference in the mean scores between pre-test and post-test. In this
research, the result of sig. 2 tailed was 0,000 and it proved that p< ?. Based on the
criteria of hypothesis test that if sig. 2 tailed (p) was lower than alpha (?) 0,05,
then Ho ( Null Hypothesis) was rejected and Ha ( Alternative Hypothesis) was
accepted. It showed that anagram game is effective to improve students?
vocabulary
